Modelling and computing (R,S) policies for inventory systems with non-stationary stochastic demand

چکیده
This paper addresses the single-item, non-stationary stochastic demand inventory control problem under the nonstationary (R,S) policy. In non-stationary (R,S) policies two sets of control parameters—the review intervals, which are not necessarily equal, and the order-up-to-levels for replenishment periods—are fixed at the beginning of the planning horizon to minimize the expected total cost. It is assumed that the total cost is comprised of fixed ordering costs and proportional direct item, inventory holding and shortage costs. With the common assumption that the actual demand per period is a normally distributed random variable about some forecast value, a certainty equivalent mixed integer linear programming model is developed for computing policy parameters. The model is obtained by means of a piecewise linear approximation to the non-linear terms in the cost function. Numerical examples are provided. 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

متن کاملA Non-Parametric Approach to Stochastic Inventory Planning with Lost Sales and Censored Demand
We study stochastic inventory planning systems with lost sales and censored demand under stationary and non-stationary settings. Contrary to classical inventory theory, we assume that no knowledge of demand is initially available, and lost sales in each period are unobservable. We take a non-parametric approach and propose adaptive inventory policies that generate a sequence of ordering decisio...
متن کاملIntroducing a New Formulation for the Warehouse Inventory Management Systems: with Two Stochastic Demand Patterns
This paper presents a new formulation for warehouse inventory management in a stochastic situation. The primary source of this formulation is derived from FP model, which has been proposed by Fletcher and Ponnambalam for reservoir management. The new proposed mathematical model is based on the first and the second moments of storage as a stochastic variable. Using this model, the expected value...
متن کاملPeriodic Review for a Perishable Item under Non Stationary Stochastic Demand
We consider the periodic-review, single-location, single-product, production/inventory control problem under non stationary demand and service-level constraints. The product is perishable and has a fixed shelf life. Costs comprise fixed ordering costs and inventory holding costs. For this inventory system we discuss a number of control policies that may be adopted. For one of these policies, we...
متن کامل(Q,r) Stochastic Demand Inventory Model With Exact Number of Cycles
In most stochastic inventory models, such as continuous review models and periodic review models, it has been assumed that the stockout period during a cycle is small enough to be neglected so that the average number of cycles per year can be approximated as D/Q, where D is the average annual demand and Q is the order quantity. This assumption makes the problem more tactable, but it should not ...
